Anatomy of a good GPT Image prompt

Full sentences beat keyword lists. Lead with the subject, then add the details that matter, in order of importance. The GPT Image models follow long prompts, so a little more detail usually helps.

  • Subject and action
  • Setting, time of day and mood
  • Style or medium
  • Light and composition
  • Exact words, in quotation marks, and where they go

GPT Image prompt FAQ

What makes a good GPT Image prompt?

One clear result described in one or two sentences: the subject, setting, style and light, the exact words in quotation marks, and what must stay unchanged when you edit a photo.

Can I use these prompts for free?

Yes. Copy and adapt any prompt at no cost; you pay the usual credits only when you generate an image with it.

Why does my edit change the person's face?

Add “keep the face exactly the same” to the prompt, use a sharp, well-lit photo and choose GPT Image 2.5 Sunburst; shorter editing instructions also drift less.

Do the prompts work with ChatGPT too?

They are plain-language prompts, so they work with any GPT Image model, including the image features in ChatGPT. On GetGPTImage you also choose the model, shape and size.
